Dominic West, Rosamund Pike, and Daniel Kaluuya will join Rowan Atkinson and Gillian Anderson in Johnny English Reborn. According to THR, Atkinson’s bumbling secret agent Johnny English will be “embroiled in trying to stop a plot by a group of international assassins hunting down the Chinese premier.” Johnny English was released in 2003 and I’m still amazed that anyone wanted a sequel.
West recently appeared in theaters in the Roman bloodbath Centurion and is attached to the sci-fi flick John Carter of Mars and the thriller The Awakening. Pike was last seen in An Education and Surrogates and is currently appearing in two flicks making the festival rounds: Barney’s Version and Made in Dagenham. Kaluuya recently co-starred in the thriller Chatroom.
I’m not exactly sure who was clamoring for another Johnny English movie but they’re going to get their wish. The UK trailer for Johnny English Reborn has gone online and it features what you would expect: slapstick, Rowan Atkinson creating awkward situations, and more slapstick. For those who enjoy this franchise, this new installment looks like it won’t let fans down.
